Nomination for Alumni Awards

Eligibility for Alumni Awards

  • Graduate or supporter of the California Maritime Academy.
  • Rising Star Award: Recipients must have graduated from Cal Maritime within the immediate past 15 years.
  • Recipients of either award may be living or deceased.


  • A distinguished record of service to society or humanity.
  • Accomplishments that lend honor or prestige to themselves, their organization, the California Maritime Academy, or the Alumni Association.
  • A sustained record of success in the person’s personal or professional activities.


  • Anyone may nominate a candidate.
  • Nominators must submit a nomination form, including appropriate documentation. Nominations will be subject to committee review and subsequent approvals.

Written nominations for the Distinguished Alumni and Rising Star Awards are accepted by downloading, completing and returning the corresponding Nomination form to the Office of Alumni Affairs via:

  1. Email to: alumni@csum.edu;
  2. Postal mail at: 200 Maritime Academy Drive, Vallejo, CA 94590-8181; or
  3. Fax at: (707) 654-1247.

Applications will be reviewed by the Alumni Association and recipient will be notified through the Office of the President.
