The Golden Bear Society

The Golden Bear Society is named after all of the training ships of The California Maritime Academy -- The Golden State, and the three subsequent training ships, all named The Golden Bear. The Golden Bear Society honors those who provide for California Maritime Academy in their estate plans.

Donors who have remembered the Academy with a bequest or deferred gift of any amount or type are invited to become members of the Golden Bear Society. All those who qualify for membership in the Golden Bear Society will, with their permission, be listed in the annual Honor Roll of Donors. Other benefits include the presentation of a 14 karat Golden Bear pin (pennant for ladies) designed specially for Cal Maritime Golden Bear Society members, invitations to private luncheons and other donor recognition events, as well as quarterly updates from the CMA President.

Each contribution, whatever its size, is essential to the Academy’s future and reputation as one of the finest maritime educational institutions in the world. Whether your gift establishes an endowment to provide a faculty Chair to help strengthen the academic resources of the Academy, or to provide scholarship assistance for deserving young cadets, it is both needed and deeply appreciated.

You are eligible to belong to the Society by providing for the Academy in your estate planning, through a bequest, a gift of life insurance, a charitable remainder trust, a charitable gift annuity or other type of deferred gift. If your current estate plan already includes a provision for the Academy, let us know and we will happily include you as a Founding Member.
