A "TRADITION OF EXCELLENCE" IN HOLLYWOOD
From television to film to the stage, alumnus Kim Estes hits his mark every time. Kim was nominated for a 2012 NAACP Theatre Award as Best Lead Male for his role ‘Thomas Kitay’ in
Treat Yourself Like Cary Grant
. Kim has become well-known for his work on ABC, Showtime, CBS, NBC - and that is only the tip of the iceberg in Estes’ growing resume.
His television credits include “NCIS,” “How I Met Your Mother,” Private Practice,” “Law & Order: LA,” “House,” “Dexter,“ “The Closer,” “Hawthorne,” “Body of Proof,” “Cold Case,” “The Riches,” “Criminal Minds,” “Numb3rs,” “Saints and Sinners,” “Shark,” “General Hospital,” “The Bold and The Beautiful,” “Windfall,” “Commander-In-Chief,” “The Unit” and many others.
Estes has been featured in many films, including Crossroad (directed by Shervin Youssefian), Free Denmark (directed by Ricardo Korda), Each Other (directed by Roger Melvin) and The Birthday Gift (directed by Marie Tang). In addition, he has appeared in the films Five Hour Friends (produced by Ron Jackson), Breathing Room (directed by John Suits), Chasing Tchaikovsky (directed by Greg Lalazarian), Save Me (directed by Jennifer Getzinger), Choke, Kick, Girl (directed by Danny Parker). He also recently appeared as Vincent in the web-series “Masters of the House” directed by Rachel Rath. Kim began his Hollywood career in early 2002 with his first break being cast in “Commander-In-Chief” with Geena Davis.

Kim Estes was part of the ARCO/BP family for over 23 years and served as the Director of External Relations, Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) for North America. Kim headed ARCO’s Corporate Environmental, Health, Safety, Security & Aviation group at the time of the integration of BP and ARCO. His past assignments included serving as Director of Policy and Assurance for Corporate HSE and Director of Government Relations for the ARCO office in Washington, DC. He also served in a variety of roles on the management team in the ARCO Marine Company, including head of Operational Integrity. He began his career with ARCO Marine sailing in the marine transportation fleet and achieving the rank of Chief Engineer before managing the Fleet Engineering and Maintenance group.

and a Master's in Business Administration from the University of Southern California. He served in the US Navy as a Lieutenant in the reserves while fulfilling his Maritime Administration/US Naval obligation.
Kim is currently a Crisis Management/Emergency Response & Communication consultant to the Oil & Gas, Energy and Maritime Transportation industries. His recent clients include Department of Justice, Carnival Corporation, BP, ConocoPhillips, Southern California Edison, US Coast Guard and Lloyds Register. He is a faculty member at the California Maritime Academy teaching Organizational Behavior and Management in the Graduate Program.
On March 9th, Kim will join us to celebrate Cal Maritime's "Tradition of Excellence" as our Special Guest Emcee.
